Test Patch -What to look for

A test Patch is a small trail in the treatment area which allows the clinician to asses how well the light energy is being absorbed and whether the skin is responding as would be expected.

Please make a note of any changes to the skin following the patch so that you can report back to the clinician before proceeding with treatment.

PRE TREATMENT CHECKS

  1. The area to be treated should be free from fake tan, make up ,  perfume , deodorant and face creams. Tanned skin cannot be treated!
  2. Avoid waxing or plucking for one month prior to treatment for hair removal treatments.
  3. Hair should be shaved prior to treatments and be no longer than 1mm. We suggest shaving the day before to avoid irritation to the skin on the day of treatments.
  4. It is pre- condition that there no active tan or face tan in the area to be treated. Use of sun beads or prolonged exposure to sunlight is not allowed in the month prior to treatment and use an SPF30 or higher must be used on the area between treatments. Suntans must be faded completely before treatment can start.
  5. We reserve the right to charge for any appointment booked but abandoned due to active sun tan or fake tan.
  6. Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen and alcohol for 24 hours before vascular or tattoo removal treatments.
  7. We cannot treat you if you are taking antibiotic. You mast tell your practitioner of any changes in use of medication.

POST TREATMENT ADVICE

  1. Typically normal activities can proceed following treatment. It is best to avoid any activity that will cause excessive heat e.g. saunas excessive exercise, massage to the area etc. Cool packs may be applied if the treated area feels hot.
  2. Makeup should be avoided on the treated area for 24 hours unless it is a natural mineral make-up. Remove make-up carefully as rubbing the area could cause irritation.
  3. Following the treatment the area may appear red and raised , you may experience a tingling sensation. This is normal and should settle over few days.
  4. Wash and bathe as normal but take tepid showers rather than hot baths. The skin should be patted dry and not rubbed. You may use an aloe moisturiser or after sun cream to keep the skin moisturised and protected.
  5. Occasionally you may experience swelling or bruising and this can last anything from 1-2 weeks. If you experience swelling its usually worse for the first 2 days following treatment. Cool packs will help to reduce the swelling and redness. If you experience swelling in the facial area sleeping with raised pillows may help reduce swelling.
  6. Use sun screen SPF 30 and protect the area from the sun light for up to one month afterwards and between treatments.
  7. If blistering or other adverse reactions occur contact the clinic immediately on 01206 851770 or 077492745719 (TEXT) or email suzannehunt01@gmail.com for further advice. Do not burst small blisters (large blisters may require medical attention). Do not use any other lotions or creams as it will increase the risk of infection.
